Teacher's
Page!
Dear Teachers,
I am writing to share an exciting educational
opportunity with you and the students and staff at your school.
Thousands of students and teachers from more than 50 different
schools in Ohio visit Lutheran Memorial Camp each year to
take part in what many of them have called, "a fantastic
and fun learning experience." LMC offers one-day and
overnight environmental education programs in the fall, winter,
and spring. As a ministry of the Evangelical Lutheran Church
in America, we are the only Lutheran residential environmental
education center in the region that offers programs based
on an understanding of God's creation, and our responisibilty
as its stewards.
Our programs are all based on our mission statement: We create a place for all to live out the gospel of Jesus Christ as we explore God's Creation. We strive to teach students about science, the wonder, and the intricacies of what God has made through exciting, hands-on activities. LMC offers a unique opportunity for students to experience creation from a Christian perspetive rather than as the relm of "Mother Nature." We offer programs for all age groups, from pre-school to high school, and customize every program to meet the specific educational needs and interests of our guests, whether they are staying for a few hours or a full week.
During our Maple Sugaring Field Trips in February and March, students learn about the historical importance of maple sugaring among the Native Americans and early American pioneers, the biology of maple trees, and how to turn sap into syrup. Maple sugaring is a great opportunity for students to experience the intricacies of God's creation through and understanding of trees and how they function.
School groups scheduling overnight programs get two or more days packed with learning, exploration, and fun! These trips are also great for group building and the LMC staff can facilitate that growth through group-building activities. LMC's worship areas are also available to schools for their use while here. Overnight stays are available during all seasons - yes! even in winter!
Here you will find more information about our programs. We would love to reserve a date for your school during our upcoming environmental education seasons. The calendar fills up quickly, so be sure to book early!
Have a great time and please call us for more information.
